Westkam were presented with certificates and officially congratulated at the BASF 150th birthday celebrations in Ludwigshafen last Sunday.
The open air festival which was tipped to be attended by over 12 000 visitors, mostly from the local neighbourhood, was a culmination of a week long programme of events to commemorate 150 years since the world’s largest chemical company was founded.
As part of the show, a short slot was allocated to acknowledge the winners of “Connected to Care”, an initiative supporting voluntary and not-for-profit organisations. Earlier this year Westkam was awarded €5000 through this scheme, which it will use to build a solar well in the village of Bakoko.
Westkam member, Deniz Akyol, who initiated the application to the scheme was presented with a small gift and official certificate. The building work on the well in Bakoko will begin in the dry season in West Cameroon, which is from January to March 2016.
